Psalms 91:7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.

Believer, we live in a world where the nocturnal pestilence of immorality runs rampant, where unashamed compromise in broad daylight is the norm. Even as medical science celebrates victory over certain sicknesses and viruses, our spiritual condition is that of blindness and numbness to the sin that so easily besets us (Hebrews 12:1).

When Nostradamus was fighting the plague in Europe, he simply observed basic rules of health and cleanliness such as cleaning, washing hands and disinfecting through incineration, all of which were new at the time. He was instrumental in the lives of many, and even though he was in contact with the sickness he did not catch it. The Old Testament contains many ritual types of washing, which unbeknownst to the children of Israel, kept them from diseases that were prevalent in the lands of their enemies (Exodus 15:26).

We have the promises that even though all those around us fall in the pit of ungodly living, we do not have to. If we keep strong in the Spirit, if we wash daily in the waters of His words, if we constantly purify ourselves in the stream of His Spirit, the whole world can fall into iniquity (and the Bible tells us that it will --Revelations 13:3), we do not have to.

Rev 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
