Daily Devotion

August 31, 2006

Psalms 91:6 Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

Fear may be the single, most dangerous weapon the enemy possesses against us. During World War 2, in a radio broadcast to the British people Winston Churchill said, “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself”.

When the children of Israel were in Egypt, God taught a lesson to the whole world. While the angel of death roamed the night streets of Egypt, God’s people were in their homes eating the Passover, protected by the blood of the Lamb of God on the doorpost of their houses. David, the young shepherd boy, could have feared the giant Goliath, but his eyes were fixed on a God that made Goliath look more like a grasshopper.

If we keep our eyes on God, with the blood of His Lamb on the doorposts of our hearts, we also will not fear; and whatever woe the world may use to intimidate us will not work. How dismayed must the heart of the Almighty God be when His children fear the puniness of Satan.

Mat 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
