REST IN HIS ARMS

REST IN HIS ARMS

Psalms 37:11 But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

Peace is so elusive these days. In our constant search and desire for peace, much of what we do is geared toward controlling our environment. Peace, true lasting peace of heart, mind and spirit is the impossible dream, the unreachable star and yet, we want, desire and need it more that anything else. Just as a country cannot grow and prosper without peace, our spirit cannot grow, mature, bloom and flourish without that place of perfect peace; that place of total and unobstructed communication with our Lord..

The meek…shall delight themselves in an abundance of peace. This Promise passes all understanding. It is the pronouncement of the Promised Land of the heart; of the Jerusalem without walls, where the heart lays at peace.

The gurus of our modern society show their plastic faces on the covers of glossy magazines telling us how they hold an edge on “peace”. They tell us that an abundance of peace is dependant comes through a certain thought pattern, a food, a new diet, an environment, or a pill. They come out with manual after manual on new medical, emotional, mental or spiritual techniques, to help us create our own peace of mind by our own works.

The psalmist, an ardent warrior himself also tells us about peace. He tells us that peace comes through a spirit of meekness. It settles of its own volition on the heart of those who cease struggling in their own efforts to obtain it.

Oh one day, we will realize how long our Lord waited for us to cease from our own struggling, crying, and fussing in your own efforts to create for ourselves what He had already promised to give us freely. Right now, let’s stop waving our arms and kicking our feet. He has heard our cry; let’s now just rest and go to sleep in His arms. Here we go; isn’t it nice?

Proverbs 18:10 The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.
