Daily Surrender

Psalms 91:13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.

Traveling throughout India you will often find charmers seating on the ground playing a flute to a venomous serpent coming out of a basket. The serpent appears to be dancing to the music under the spell of the charmer. This makes for a very impressive scene of interaction between man and a deadly kind of animal, but what we are not told is that for the most part, the snake’s venom glands have been removed, and it is therefore inoffensive.

We in turn, fight against a deadly serpent/dragon whose venom is present and very real. This dragon has God’s children intimidated and in fear of death (Hebrews 2:15). Like Herod of old, only the shedding of the innocent blood of God’s children appeases him.

There is an English legend of a knight called George. When he returned from the crusades George found a village in fear of a local dragon. The dragon had required the life of the village princess as a token of peace. In a fight to the finish, George killed the dragon and rescued the princess. How like our Jesus rescuing his bride from the clutches of the devil.

Our fight is not for ourselves but for the deliverance of God’s entire bride. Our Lord and king has promised us that in our combat to deliver his bride, he would give us power against the deadly venom of the prince of the powers of the air (Revelations 20:2). Let us therefore, like George, fearlessly fight against the dragon and deliver the ‘princess’, knowing that no power can withstand that of the Son of God.

Luk 10:17 And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.
