Daily Devotion Psa 119:73

March 3, 2006

Psa 119:73 KJV Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding, that I may learn thy commandments.

Whether it be a wood carving, the confectioning of a piece of jewelry, the painting of a picture, the writing of a book, or the composing of a piece of music, we are very jealous over the works of our hands.  We care to protect it, we try to improve it, and above all, we are proud of it.  Trying to keep a humble spirit, we still show it off to people and can’t help bragging about it.  This is a part of our very nature and making.

God, who made us in His image, feels the same way about us, His creatures. He made us with love and care by His own hands.  He specifically fashioned every part of us to the perfection of His image.  Do you want to learn everything there is to learn about God? Do you want to understand the great principles of His Spirit, the components of His Majesty? Look at how we are made, learn to understand and mostly receive in your spirit the wisdom wherewith we are fashioned.

Every part of our body, the seen and the unseen, has its function.  If we are to make the most of them, it behooves to use them wisely.  It is for this purpose that like a responsible technician or engineer, the Lord has written a manual for us, His creation.  If we carefully study our Bible and understand what it tells us on how to properly use our body, our spirit, in essence our soul, we will avoid hurting others and ourselves.

May God help us to understand the instructions given to us in His precious book, not as restraining commandments, but as a guide and manual to health and happiness. He does love and care for us and He is jealous over the works of His hands.  As we wouldn’t want someone to mar, break, impair or spoil one of our “creations”, do we have the right to injure the creations of God?

1Co 6:19  What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
