WE ARE THE PRIDE OF HIS EYES

March 1

Psalms 119:73 Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding, that I may learn thy commandments.

Whether it be a wood carving, the confectioning of a piece of jewelry, the painting of a picture, the writing of a book, or the composing of a piece of music, we are jealous over the works of our hands. We care to protect it, we try to improve it, and above all, we are proud of it. While projecting a humble spirit, we show it off to people and can’t help bragging about it. This is a part of our very nature and making.

God, who made us in His image, feels the same way about us, His creatures. He made us with love and care by His own hands. He fashioned each part of every one of us to the specifications of His perfect image. Here is where to find everything there is to learn about God. Here is where to understand the great principles of His Spirit, the components of His Majesty. The secrets of God’s wisdom are imbedded in the composition of our physical and spiritual make-up.

Every part of our body, the seen and the unseen, has its function. If we are to make the most of them, it behooves us to use them wisely. It is for this purpose that like a responsible technician or engineer, the Lord has written a manual for us, His creation. If we carefully study our Bible and understand what it tells us on how to properly use and maintain every part of our body, our spirit, in essence our soul, we will avoid hurting others and ourselves, we will get good mileage of our body.

May God help us to understand the instructions given us in His precious book; to not understand them as restraining commandments, but as a guide and manual to health and happiness. He loves and cares for us; He is jealous over the works of His hands. As we wouldn’t want someone to one of our ‘creations’, do we have the right to mar, break, impair or spoil the creations of God?

1 Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
